Project Lights Up!

SENSORY-FRIENDLY PERFORMANCES
These performances are designated exclusively for patrons on the autism spectrum or with other sensory sensitivities and their families, and are not open to the general public.

Sensory-friendly performances are designed for individuals living with autism and with other disabilities that might keep them from participating in a traditional theatre setting. This season we will be offering one sensory-friendly performances and one inclusive audience performances. The sensory-friendly performances have lower sound levels, lighting remains on at 30% in the theatre, and a there is a reduction of the use strobes and other dramatic lighting effects. The inclusive audience performances are exactly what patrons will see at our public performances and our In The Wings patrons are invited to attend these events alongside the Project Lights Up! patrons. For more specific information on both types of shows, please refer to our Sensory-Friendly Performance Guide.

In the Wings

In the Wings performances at the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre invite students and their families, guardians, or rides to experience the magic of live theatre free of charge while gaining a deeper understanding of the creative process behind the curtain.

Through this initiative, participating students receive complimentary tickets to a designated performance in our season through their high school theatre teachers, providing access to professional theatre that educates, inspires, and connects. Each In the Wings event includes a special post-show talkback with members of the cast, creative team, or production staff, giving students the chance to ask questions, explore artistic careers, and discover how storytelling comes to life on stage.

By welcoming students and their families, guardians, or rides into our audience, In the Wings helps remove barriers to arts participation and ensures that every student has the opportunity to attend live theatre. The inclusion of tickets for their rides reflects our belief that accessibility begins with removing logistical obstacles, making it easier for everyone to share the experience together.
