In the more innocent era of the early 1950's, Arthur and Cynthia Ferguson and their daughter, Flossie, are scam artists who move briefly from city to city targeting wealthy bachelors. It's a happy heist that takes them into the best homes and elegant country clubs. When their current scam runs amok it results in surprises, laughs, and a very unusual wedding gift.
Civic patrons may remember seeing the 2013 winner of the Northeast Indiana Playwright Festival, The Wedding Gift, by Nancy Carlson Dodd. Since the success of that production Nancy has gone back to her original vision of The Wedding Gift as a musical, working with professionals in Chicago and New York to create the music and orchestrations. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to produce this new work on stage for the very first time, giving local actors the chance to originate a role and allowing the creators to see their production fully realized. Nancy was also the winner of the 2010 festival with her hit play The Ladies in Cabin 10.
