  1. As part of the Civic Theatre’s 80th Anniversary season, we are thrilled to announce the role of the Creature in the Civic’s Midwest premiere of FRANKENSTEIN will be played by Broadway star Steve Blanchard!  Mr. Blanchard originated this role in the 2007 New York production.   Former Fort Wayne resident Douglas C. Evans, one of the original FRANKENSTEIN producers will be a part of this celebration as well. This musical version FRANKENSTEIN is based on Mary Shelley’s classic novel and offers a bold, new experience for modern theater audiences.  It opens March 6th and runs weekends through March 22nd.
  2. The Civic Theatre and Fort Wayne Community Schools announce their first time collaboration on a ‘distance learning’ event.  We welcome C. Todd Cummings, Curriculum Coordinator from Fort Wayne Community Schools.  The event will feature Steve Blanchard conducting an acting seminar on Friday, March 13th, at 9:30 at North Side High School that will be fed live via the Fort Wayne Community Schools website: www.fwcs.k12.in.us.  A link on the FWCS home page will take viewers to the site.  We’re excited about this innovative collaboration and look forward to future events.
  3. The Civic Theatre will conduct a workshop & discussion with Steve Blanchard!  Community actors are invited to attend this workshop on Sunday, March 15th from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 at the Arts United Center.  Come learn more about Steve and his career path to becoming a Broadway performer.  Cost: Free of charge; reservation must be made in advance by contacting 422.8641 x225 or PColglazier@FWCivic.org.  Attendees must be 16 years of older.  Parking is available behind the Arts United Center.  Enter via the Green Room door.
  4. The Civic Theatre announces its new alumni program.  If you have ever been involved with the Civic either onstage or off, visit our website to register for special benefits.
  5. Authorized merchandise (T-shirts and soundtrack CDs) will be available during the run of the show.

- Notes:  In this stage adaptation of "Frankenstein," authors Jeffrey Jackson and Mark Baron sought to create a work that was extraordinarily faithful to Mary Shelley's original novel while offering a bold, new experience for modern theater audiences. To do so, they have broken with many of the conventions of musical theater to re-imagine the classic allegory as a "memory play" in which time and space is fluid, and in which people and places come instantly alive in the mind of the story's protagonist, Victor Frankenstein--and vanish just as quickly. The result is a thrilling "mindscape" that brings the timeless myth of Frankenstein to life as never before.
