The Fort Wayne Civic Theatre announces the

2^nd Annual Northeast Indiana Playwright Festival!

In addressing the creative writing needs of the communities we serve, the Civic Theatre has established a playwright festival encouraging emerging and professional playwrights to submit their unproduced and unpublished one act or full-length plays to be presented as a reading or production at our “Civic Off-Main” location in June 3-5, 2011. When the imagination is free to explore, not knowing any boundaries, and without intimidation, self-esteem and confidence matures in developing one’s craft. Being a playwright requires soul searching, risk taking, courage, research, readings, feedback, and lots of rewriting that will hopefully lead to a fully staged production. The Civic Theatre continues to foster the creative potential that is within us as actors, dancers, singers and now as playwrights.

Fort Wayne Civic Theatre’s Northeast Indiana Playwright Contest

Types of material: one acts to full length plays. Frequency: annual. Remunerations: 1^st Place-$750, 2^nd Place-$500, 3^rd Place-$250, and possible stage reading and/or production June 3 - 18, 2011 at the Allen County Public Library as a Civic Off-Main Production. Guidelines: current or former resident of Northeast Indiana within a 90 mile radius of Fort Wayne, IN., must be 19 years of age or older, unproduced and unpublished plays only (no musicals), suggested sets or unit set, cast limit of 10, previous submission ineligible unless prior permission is granted, 1 submission limit. Submission procedures: 10 pages of your script, SASE or self addressed reply card with postage, 1 page synopsis, playwright’s bio and contact information. The playwright’s name should only appear on the title page and not on the subsequent pages of the script. Entry form available on-line at www.fwcivic.org. Script submissions will not be returned. No entry fee.

Deadline: September 1, 2010.

Notification: January 30, 2011.

Festival Performance/Reading dates: June 3 - 5, 2011 (1^st Place Play: June 3 - 18, 2011).
