Civic Theatre proudly announces winners of the Northeast Indiana Playwright Contest!
Posted Thursday, January 14, 2010 @ 10:00am
Arts United Center, Ian Rolland Gallery

In addressing the creative writing needs of the communities we serve, the Civic Theatre has established a playwright festival encouraging emerging and professional playwrights to submit their unproduced and unpublished one act or full-length plays to be presented as a reading or production at our “Civic Off-Main” location in June 4-6, 2010. When the imagination is free to explore, not knowing any boundaries, and without intimidation, self-esteem and confidence matures in developing one’s craft. Being a playwright requires soul searching, risk taking, courage, research, readings, feedback, and lots of rewriting that will hopefully lead to a fully staged production. The Civic Theatre continues to foster the creative potential that is within us as actors, dancers, singers and now as playwrights.

The winners are:
• 1st place: The Ladies in Cabin 10 by Nancy Carlson
• 2nd place: Papillons by Ruth (Tyndall) Baker
• 3rd place: Asleep in the Arms of God by Jay Duffer
• Honorable Mention: The Door by Chad Kennerk
                             Profanity by Chris Colcord

The winning play will be produced as part of the first NORTHEAST INDIANA PLAYWRIGHT FESTIVAL, June 4-6 at the Allen County Public Library Auditorium. The second and third-place plays will have stage readings at the Festival. Click here to download the NORTHEAST INDIANA PLAYWRIGHT FESTIVAL brochure.
